REGISTRAR AND REAL ESTATE OFFICES
One or more registrar offices operate within the district of each Local Court, and offer the following services, according to the legislation:
a) Registration, attachment, or distraint of real property located within their jurisdiction
b) transcription, in accordance with Action Law that must be transcribed and
c) registration of suit and every other action or relevant details of real estate.
Registrar Office services are both stipendiary and gratis.
Stipendiary Registrar Office are subordinated to the Ministry of Justice. Real Estate offices on the islands of Rhodes and Kos function as services provided by the Ministry of Justice, and in Kos-Leros the registration system is real estate-centred.
The gratis Registrar Offices are distinguished as follows:
a) Specialised unpaid Real Estate Officer, appointed by the Minister of Justice after successful application and
b) Non-specialised, unpaid Real Estate Officer, appointed by a Notary in the seat of the Registrar Office.
